Role Overview
 An expert in the product or platform team accountable for the overall solution design quality and persistency of alignment. Defines and maintains the solution architecture and detailed solution design and ensures the as-built state is in alignment with the design and meets the operational requirements. Ensures solution architectures and designs are in alignment with enterprise and portfolio architecture directions and organizational standards. Leads any design documentation, continuous improvement of design and seeks guidance from Portfolio Architectures and Engineering and Operations on architecturally significant decisions. May be called upon to help resolve production problems. Depending on the solution design needs of the Product, the Solutions Architect may or may not be dedicated to a Product Team or be shared amongst multiple Product Team.

  • Accountable for design and technical quality of the solution measured by demonstrated attainment of service levels and # of incidents.
  •  Develops and maintains the solution architecture and detailed solution design views for one or more products.
  • Accountable for soliciting and documenting the operational requirements and obtaining sign-off from the Product Owner/Sponsor.
  • Ensures system usability is considered, both from a human factors point of view and as it impacts system engineering
  •  Fine tunes models and designs to account for technical realities that are revealed during implementation
  • Participates in design and code walkthroughs
  • Supports the transition to production
  • Helps resolve operational issues (incidents and problems)
  • Ensures the implemented product/solution meets the operational requirements and is in alignment with enterprise and portfolio architecture directions, and the organization’s policies and standards, or proposes and obtains variance. ? Escalates architecturally significant decisions to the Portfolio Architecture
  • Works closely with other members of the product/project team to ensure a balanced solution considering all perspectives
  • Provides input to the creation of the project management deliverables, including project charter, risk assessment, project schedule, and work breakdown statement
  • Remains informed about all significant technical aspects, activities and associated business and technical impacts.
  • Work with LOB and Architecture leads to balance need for purity with delivery pressures
  • Leads prototyping activities
  •  Contributes to the development and selection of systems architecture practices, tools, techniques, and standards
  • Proactively identify & raise requirements for new/amended IT processes, best practices, and standards
  •  Member of the product leadership team
  • Takes direct ownership of the most significant technology and design issues
  • Acts as the focal point for significant infrastructure and development issues throughout all phases of the project and product lifecycles
  • Mentors/educates others in the organization
  • Understand and implement the IT strategy into business unit solutions.

What you will bring:
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or software engineering (or equivalent) with 8+ years of proven experience performing in a Solution Architect
  • Cloud, Azure, experience
  • Previous Architecture experience or Development and/or Engineering experience
  • Experience in a large, complex organization – ideally in the financial sector
  • Experience with cloud native architecture and cloud integration patterns
  • Experience delivering customer facing enterprise portal solutions
  • Strong ability to translate business, security, and technical requirements into clear architectural direction
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to articulate trade-offs, risks, and feasibility
  • Experience working in Agile (Scrum/Kanban) delivery environments
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity, challenge assumptions, and provide architectural thought leadership
