- Job-Role/Title: Valve / Actuator Engineer
- Job-Type: Long-Term Contract.
- Duration: Initial Contract of 12 months, with extensions.
- Work-Style: 40 hours/week and On-site work setting, 5 days/week in the office required.
- Job-Location: Tiverton, Ontario - N0G 2T0, Canada.
Position Overview and Key Responsibilities
1. Obsolete Valve and Actuator Replacement Projects
- Coordinate and prioritize engineering projects related to valve and actuator replacement.
- Conduct valve application reviews and actuator sizing evaluations.
- Collaborate with vendors and manufacturers to specify appropriate replacement options.
- Support Supply Chain with technical evaluations of vendor quotations and documentation.
- Perform field walkdowns to assess installation conditions and spatial constraints.
- Work closely with Valve Component Engineering to select appropriate replacement components and verify sizing.
- Provide input to and review engineering changes, including drawings, installation instructions, commissioning plans, and change papers.
- Liaise with Plant Maintenance for planning and installation of components.
- Offer field engineering support during installation, diagnostic testing, and final commissioning.
2. Valve Packing Training Updates and Delivery
- Review and update Valve Packing Specification and training requirements.
- Revise Valve Packing training materials with input from qualified engineering and maintenance personnel.
- Deliver updated training sessions to at least one class of Engineering and Maintenance staff.
3. SealPro Software Implementation
- Coordinate with IT to facilitate testing and migration of data from PAGASIS to SealPro.
- Support training and turnover of SealPro software to Valve Engineering and Maintenance teams.
4. KVAP Software Implementation
- Coordinate with IT to manage testing and migration of valve calculation data from ACE to the new Kalsi Engineering KVAP platform.
- Provide training and ensure successful handover of KVAP software to Engineering and Maintenance personnel.
Key Qualifications for this Role:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
- 8+ years of relevant engineering experience, with a focus on valve and actuator design.
- Experience in the nuclear industry strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in technical liaison across engineering, maintenance, supply chain, and vendors.
- Familiarity with valve sizing tools, diagnostic testing, and commissioning processes.
- Strong understanding of valve packing systems and training development.
- Experience implementing engineering software tools (SealPro, KVAP or similar) is an asset.
- P.Eng. designation in Ontario is an asset but not mandatory.
