On behalf of our client, Brainhunter Systems is seeking a Finance Manager to fulfill a 1-year contract in Calgary, AB. Reporting to Chief Financial Officer and accountable to the Program Manager, the Business Transformation Financial Manager is responsible for understanding and identifying financial business requirements to ensure the configuration and implementation of the new ERP system effectively supports the efficient financial transaction processes for Wave 2 operating companies.

Position Accountabilities

General Responsibilities:

• Align business design with operational finance processes to support business goals
• Achieve maximum (continuous improvement) efficiency and accuracy of processes.
• Assist in identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement in the business financial processes
• Coach and train employees on new processes, understanding their effect on current ones.   
• Participate in assessing team’s capabilities and recommend workforce adjustments accordingly.
• Ensure ERP and team capability to:
  • Prepare monthly internal financial statements, reports and records.
  • Conduct monthly budget and prior year variance analysis (revenue, cost accruals, receivables)
  • Prepare year-end comparative financial statements and supporting schedules           
• Contribute to the team by offering solution options and taking on specific project initiatives as needed          

Management and Leadership:

• Demonstrate transparency on communication, project needs and expectations.
• Create an environment of collaboration, open communication, engagement and continuous improvement
• Apply a “can do” attitude to problem solving and meeting established milestones
• Utilize resources available to the team and ask for assistance should that be critical to achieve results.

Customer Service:

• Clear understanding of internal stakeholder needs, business requirements and expectations
• Represent Project Team in a professional, helpful and confidential demeanor at all times.     
• Demonstrate a “can do”, “problem solving” approach to all inquiries and concerns.
• Ensure vendor/customer issues and requests are addressed in a timely manner.
• Knowledge of when to escalate an issue to the Project Manager

Position Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Accounting designation (CA, CPA, CMA, CGA or equivalent) and 7+ years post designation experience in a significant financial role demonstrating progressive responsibilities.
• Solid technical accounting knowledge and application in Canadian ASPE and IFRS frameworks.
• Solid understanding and working experience in a complex ERP financial environment (procurement, accounts payable, accounts receivable, Supply Chain Management, etc)
• Exceptional organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal, relationship and communication skills.
• Experience in construction or manufacturing industry, an asset.
• Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Advanced Excel skills, including but not limited to Pivot tables and V-Lookup
